bathroom exhaust duct cleaning

previous owners smoked in the 1/2 bathroom with the exhaust fan on leaving the inside of the duct a sticky and smelly mess. Where It is vented outside you can see it has turned yellow from the smoke. How are we able to clean this to help rid the smoke smell from that bathroom? Please help!

Replace the duct, and use a primer over the walls before repainting.

Just replace the vent pipe and run the primer to cover up the blemish but if you still smell smoke then you will have to replace the exhaust fan unit anyway.

That what I will do in first place.

Merci.
