basic code question

I need to install a single pole 120v switch in an interior wall. Is it acceptable to wall fish a single run of 14/2 NM cable to the switch using both black and white conductors as hot (with ground to the switch) and then tie it into a junction box in the attic?

Yes it is acceptable to do that.
When you tie into the hot wire in the 'J' box just wrap a little black tape around the insulation of the white wire.

Andy.

If this is what you are referring to:

then it's fine.
