Basement Wiring

All,

Just started to wire my basement and have a circuit that runs through two receptacles before proceeding to a double-gang switch box which powers 4 can lights; does anyone see any issues with this? I wasn't certain on whether I should be mixing receptacles and switches (for can lights) on the same circuit.

No problem with that at all. I'm not a licensed electrician here but to my knowledge that is standard practice. And in fact if this is all that is on that circuit it is a pretty light load for a standard 15 amp circuit. You may wanna wire nut little pig-tails to the wires in your outlet boxes, then connect single wires to the outlets. That way outlet burns up and the rest of the circuit won't go out. Pretty darn sure, again not electrician by trade just finally glad to be the first to reply to a post!!!! Boo-Yah

Like the excited tool man said, there are no problems with this. Very standard practice. *IF* these receptacles happen to be GFI, then you may want to think about installing the lights on the LINE side (NOT LOAD) if they are the only lights... if you were to trip the GFI you would be standing in the dark.
