Basement Recessed Lighting
Here is my situation.
Placed recessed cans in my basement flush with the bottom of the floor trusses, figuring that the 1/2 inch sheetrock would attach to the trusses also, and I should be good. However, since it is such a long run of ceiling (42 feet),the drywall contractor has asked that I put up strapping perpendicular to the trusses to prevent a wave effect in the sheetrock due to the truss uneveness. My question is,will I have to move those cans, and attach them to the strapping,or will they adjust for the 3/4 inch strapping and the 1/2 inch drywall. These were standard 5 inch cheapo depot new construction lights I put up 2 years back,so all paperwork is gone. |

Basement Recessed Lighting
I doubt they would adjust out an inch and a quarter.
Remove the trim and find out how much they will adjust.
