arc fault breakers keep tripping

Working on a small remodel. we were required to add 2 arc fault breakers for the new rooms. as soon as somthing is pluged in it trips the breaker. Same thing on the other circuit. no miss wiring, no shorts, no overload. If i take the wire off and land it on a standerd breaker it will hold a load.

the breakers are on a 150 amp subpanel. is it possible the breakers are picking somthing els up off the main bus and tripping? Its an older home with alot of existing wiring.

Any help would be great

Thanks

Are you plugging the same thing in each time? Is, what you are plugging in, turned on when you plug it in? How are the circuits wired? 2 2-wire circuits, or 1 3-wire circuit?

How are the circuits run from the panel? Each with its own neutral, or are they sharing a neutral?

Its pretty basic thats why im confused. It is two 2 wire circuits. they just hit a few receptacles in each room.

Where did you land the neutrals from those circuits in the panel?

Disconnect the wires after the first receptacle and test.

Some of the basics are
Neutral/ground touching somewhere.
Over driven staples.
Neutral wires not connected to the breakers.
Crossed neutrals in the panel.

Did you terminate the neutral from those branch circuits to the breaker or the neutral bar?

There's your problem.

The neutral from the branch circuit needs to be landed to the breaker then the white coiled wire off the breaker goes to the neutral bar.

I think I should be more specific...there are two different terminals on the breaker (unlike a normal breaker) the front one is for the hot and the back one is for the neutral.

Check the instructions that came with the breaker.
