anyone have a schematic of an old gas heater

I have an old gas garage heater that came with the house I just bought. Fan comes on, pilot stays lit, but no fire up on the main burner.
Bought a new valve assembly, didn't help. The brand name is "Utility" by "Zero-Climate Manufacturing", probably from the '50s.
Anyone have a schematic? THanks

Your new valve didn't contain a diagram? There has to be some way to control temperature. This control is what opens the main valve. Is there a dial on the valve or is there a place to connect a thermostat?

I replaced it along with the valve. So, I assume it is ok.

The schematic that came with it was so badly destroyed couldn't read it. If I turn the valve to pilot, ( it is a manual light) it stays lit, then when I turn the vavle to on, no action. Also, the wires were messed up a bit. That is why I was wondering if anyone had a schematic of a similar unit I could go by. Thanks

Sounds normal. Once in the ON position, it is up to what ever controls the temperature to "pick" the gas valve. This new gas valve has wires?? Sure sounds like it needs a 24v transformer and a thermostat. Any chance you could take a picture of the valve and wires?

Here's a basic thermostat circuit. Not sure what you have but this may help you understand the gas valve.
