Any market for an old Wadsworth breaker box?

I just had my Wadsworth 150A breaker box replaced with a new 200A. Is there any market for the old breakers or the panel?

Let the electrician take it. That's what I expect.
He may need a breaker in an emergency. The breakers are worth a few bucks, but not much. The panel is worthless.

How much is scrap steel going for?

Ha, That is what I thought, but then I ran across sites like these and I wondered:

I don't think they pay very much at all since they have to refurbish them.
You could try though.

What was the reason for removing your panel?

Bradeno 02-25-2013 02:18 PM

No problems, just wanted to add 2 more circuits and the inspector said I should consider it because this brand was prone to fires, even though I had never exprienced any problems and neither had the previous owner in 40 years. The electricians agreed just based upon the brand.

Isn't this the guy *****in' about paying $500 for 5 hrs to replace that box. The one with the ugly pvc stub? he says he replaced the 150 amp with a 200 amp panel, did the ec change the service wires/pan too for $500. cause if he did he is definately hired! And Bradeno please don't call me for any glass or mirror in any of your flips as you cannot afford my services, LOL

Are Wadsworth panels really prone to fire?

Not any more than any other old/ obsolete panel. They just haven't been around for a long time.

The fuse panels were pretty solid.
