Another Pool Bonding Question

Hello,
I was reading the thread started by "shaggysteele" and it relates to my question. I bought a pool home which used to be under an aluminum screened enclosure. The enclosure was removed by a hurricane. Just outside the concrete pool deck, protruding about a foot from the grass is a #8 copper ground wire which is attached to nothing. I dug down with my hand and the wire is coming from under the concrete pool deck. The wire is not long enough to reach the pool pump, so I assumed it must've been attached to the pool enclosure. Tomorrow I am going to post some photos of the situation. Does it seem as though this could be the bonding wire? If so, would it have been attached the the screen enclosure?

Many Thanks,
Russell

Another Pool Bonding Question

Is there also a wire attached to the pump?
If not look around the pump area
Yes - the metal screen house would have been attached

Another Pool Bonding Question

Thanks for the reply. I am not sure about the pump. I will look tomorrow. If I have to attach this wire to the pump, I will need to extend the wire. It is dark now and I am not at the house.

I love this forum!

Thanks,
Russell

Another Pool Bonding Question

Hello Again,

I've attached some photos (I think). There is a bonding wire to the pump. One of the photos shows another bonding wire coming out of the ground. Can I add mount this wire on top of the other wire on the pump? If so, is there a special connector to lengthen the wire so it will reach the pump?

Also, as seen by one of the photos, the junction box is not supported by metal raceways. Is this cause for concern?

Another Pool Bonding Question

Is the junction box mounted to a wall?
I mounted mine on a PT 2x4 in the ground

As long as there is a bonding wire to the pump that is all that is needed
If it's close you could run the other wire over to the pump too
But both wires are probably connected under the slab

I'd fix that flex line connection
