another Fed Pac panel (orange breaker handles)

Folks - I tried searching the threads but couldn't find what I want. Friend is selling her dad's house and it has a Fed Pac 200 A 2514 panel with the orange handle breakers. Nicely done install- 1970s - but I recall one of you folks explaining that some color meant more problems than some other color. So again, if you don't mind, what's the color story? Thanks. - Phil

Don't know about the orange handles but there was a recall on some 15 amp blue handles in the 90s I think.

You want to look and see if it is a FP Stab-Lok panel. These panels are notorious for fire causing failures. Check this link

Chasm - Thanks. That's what I was looking for. Yes, that's what we have here. Good to know that the breakers don't even always shut off when tripped manually. - Phil
