Another 4 way Switch Wiring Question..

Currently we have two switches hooked up running a string of can lights.
In the process of finishing our basement we paid to have an electrical contractor rough in the outlets and switches, and as part of this, include another switch for the row of can lights at the end of the hallway. The wiring was done and he told pigtailed and capped off the extra switch box in the hall.

I'm not to the point of putting in the switches and am confused by the wiring.
I'm trying to install the lutron Maestro dimmers to allow for dimming from any of the three switch locations.

Facts:
1. Currently there are two of the original switches installed. Top of stairs, and bottom of the stairs. The third location is wire capped off. These control the lights right now but only work in a certain combination. (suspecting because they are in a 4 way configuration and they are three way switches)
2. In the new box, one of the wire sets has 5 wires coming into it. In the drawing I've labeled them black (1) and black (2). Black (2) looks to be slightly lighter in color than the other one.

I've drawn up what each of the wire boxes look like and am hoping that someone can shed some light on what is going to what...

Another 4 way Switch Wiring Question..

Your picture is hard to read. Try turning off your flash to remove the white washout.
Are the three switches controling the same lights or is the third switch separate?

Another 4 way Switch Wiring Question..

Found this in my files. Power is coming into the circuit via the 3-way switch at the right of the diagram

Based on the number of wires coming and going from the boxes it looks like you have conduit. What we really need to know is where the wires go when they leave the box.

Lutron Maestro dimmers are wired differently than 3 ways or 4 ways.
You must have a master and in your case 2 remotes or companion dimmers. WATCH the terminations on the BLUE screw as this is a control wire, not a traveler.
