Aluminum Wiring/Copper Ground?

Our house was built back in the day when aluminum wiring was standard for household outlets. We have since replaced most, if not all, of the wiring with code spec copper wiring installed by licensed electricians.

The question is: When aluminum wire was being used, were the ground wires also aluminum? Always? Sometimes? Never?

I have one outlet that clearly shows a copper ground wire and if I don't have to I'd rather not shut off the electricity to pull the receptical and check the negative and positive wires. Not a big job for sure, but if I don't have to, I'd rather not.

Thanks,
Rob

No. It could be copper clad (plated) aluminum.
