Aluminum Wiring

I live in Caledon,Ontario. I have been in this home for 30 yrs. We are planing to sell in the spring. My question is that this home has Aluminum wiring at the panel. We have done renovations in the basement and have changed some of the wiring to copper. I am wondering if we should change the rest of the house to copper? Will the wiring pass a home inspection if it is not all the same. What about insurance. We had no problem as far as insurance. Your assistance is appreciated. F.Baker

That depends on the buyer.
Some insurance companies have problems with al. wiring, others do not.
I would not rewire unless you have a sale pending, and that is holding up the deal.

We are redoing our laundry room and kitchen. We will be putting in copper wiring in the new rooms. Will this be a problem with the older wiring being Aluminum. Do you adivise we change what we can or just leave it as is.
With Thanks Fran

It will not be a problem to add the copper. If you make any copper to aluminum joints be sure to use the proper connectors. If you have the walls open I think I would replace any aluminum 15 or 20 amp circuits.
