Do you live in the US or Canada? Or perhaps El Salvador?

Funny, when I was a kid I used to play a lot with electricity. I learned a lot, well, anything not having to do with safety. I would crunch foil up into "wires" and shove it in the socket. Had circuits with light switches (most of them I had made of paper and foil, folded and stapled together). It worked, but when something went wrong, it was not pretty. Well actually it was pretty cool. The whole contraption turned all blue and stuff and it smelled very funny.

I would get that wiring pulled out and install new wiring.

I have never heard of this. Unless someone actually burned out the wires in the house from overcurrent (putting a penny under the fuse) and had to do a makeshift rewiring job.

Probably because we were guessing because you don't have your location in your profile.

"the fuses were made by edison..."

Hold onto them; they're collector items.
