After storm, Electrical Outlets not working

Hi, in just one room, the electrical outlets are not working since last night when a big storm hit our area. I dont see any fuses tripped and the whole house is working fine except two outlets in one room.

What can I try now?

(PS: these are simple/standard outlets, not gfi type)

between: during these lightening and heavy rains, both outlets had heavy load on them (computers, printers, audio system etc) though the extension cord I used to power them (Monster power cable) has protection built-in, though suprising that did not trip. Its just the outlets became completely dead

How old is this place, and do you rent or own? Have you cycled the breakers in the house (ie turn off the breakers, then turn back on. This includes the main breaker. Have you also tried using a tester like this http://www.lowes.com/pd_225727-11906...r|1&facetInfo=

to check each outlet?

You should at least cycle the breakers at least once or twice a year. Depending on how old the panel is, you may want to change out the breakers. I keep a few extras of 15 & 20 amp and a 30 amp double pole, single throw on hand for my two panels, so that if a breaker does go bad, I can swap it out immediate. Kind of a hold over from being in the Nav.
