AFCI Breaker

We had a lightning storm in Alberta the other day and since then none of the receptacles in bedroom works.

The Bed room plugs are on AFCI breaker and when I looked at the panel the breaker was tripped. I tried to "OFF" and then tried to turn it back "ON" as soon as I do that it trips instantly.

First I unplugged everything it didn't solve the issue. Then I disconnected the Hot wire (Black) from each and every plug in all bedrooms no change, breaker keep on tripping when I try to turn it "ON".

Why the breaker keeps tripping even though the receptacles are not even connected? Does this mean AFCI breaker is fried?

On same floor I have GFCI switch installed in batroom and it works fine.

AFCI Breaker

Remove the hot wire from the AFCI breaker and try it again. If it trips, replace it.
