Adding outlets to existing 15A lighting circuit
In my basement workshop I have four 2'X4' troffer (lay-in) type fluorescent light fixtures on a 15 amp circuit with 14/2 and 14/3 NM with a single pole switch.
Each lighting fixture contains two T12 magnetic ballasts that pull .73 amps each - which totals a little under 6amps for all four lights. I would like to add one (or more?) ceiling outlets between the light fixtures. Would that be permissible? If so, how many? Thanks in advance for your help. |
It is not good practice to have lights and outlets on the same circuit(if a circuit with both goes out, you are left in the dark), but not sure if it is not allowed under code, check local code.

There will be no code issues with doing this.

what would outlets be used for?
