Adding a light to a four way
I've attached a picture of what I have going on(I think that's where the power is coming in and I think that's where the light is connected in the upstairs. So switch 1,2, and 3 control one light on my deck. (Switch 3 is in the basement).
--- switch 4 is in the basement and controls flood lights under the deck. What I want to do is somehow connect the lights from switch 4 to run with switch 3- which in turn would work with switches 1 and 2. Any help would be great!!! I looked at wireless switch controls but I think they are IR controlled and wouldn't be able to transmit a signal through the floor boards. (I really don't want to have to rip down drywall) Last edited by awakin; 11-09-2012 at 02:23 PM. |

To make this work you need to find the box where the above light is connected and move the below deck lights feed cable to that connection box.

You need to open the boxes and try to investigate and trace the cables.

if the power feeds to switch 3 in the basement the lights should go to the box with the other 3 way switch.
i would check the switch closest to the light upstairs between 1 and 2 first. |
