AC Disconnect - Breaker keeps tripping

Hello all,
I had to replace my AC Fused Disconnect and the breaker keeps tripping. I have a BLK & WHT & GRND coming from the panel to the disconnect. I have a BLK & WHT & GRND going from the disconnect to the AC Unit. The BLK & WHT are both connected to the LINE lugs and the BLK & WHT from the AC Unit are aligned from the Fuse Lugs. I put the Pull Out in and the breaker trips.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Bob

Good picture of the disconnect and AC connections. Disconnects are wired with line and load sides. Pics are helpful here

with power off. Disconnect wires AT the unit.
turn everything on with disconnect fuses in.
check for power at exposed wires at unit.
If wires are hot, something wrong with ac. (which sounds like thats the way it's going, although it happens, not many problems with "whips")

After seeing the picture of the disconnect, it appears its wired correct - Line and load as they should be and grounds attached. Im with ritelec, the AC could be to blame.

Is it possible the BLK & WHT from the disconnect to unit be reversed? I haven't looked at the wiring in the unit itself but could this be possible?

Black and white make no difference on a 240 volt unit. Line and Load pairs do.

AC Disconnect - Breaker keeps tripping

My dilemma is I had an AC guy come to take a look at this and he left my original box unwired with no fuses because he said there was a problem with the disconnect itself. Without seeing the wiring prior to him disconnecting everything I am kind of in the dark with how it was originally wired. I am guessing I should dig into the unit to be sure the wiring is correct on that end too.

What was your original problem? Did he disconnect everything after you told him that you would take care of replacing the disconnect? It sounds like he made a wrong call in the troubleshooting.

Disconnect the load side wires, if the breaker holds the AC has a problem.

There should be a wiring diagram in the disconnect. Load wires go to the unit, line comes from the house.

Line and load are pretty self explanatory... Although we did have an "electrician" who installed a non fused disconnect for a mini split we were installing who put one hot leg to 'line' and the other to 'load'. My coworker almost needed a change of pants. We double check them now.

Take it apart and check for nicked or pinched wires in the connectors

I am blaming the AC Unit. I disconnected the unit in the disconnect and the breaker didn't trip.
