60 year old house wiring

bigp58 Newbie   Join Date: Apr 2008 Posts: 1	60 year old house wiring I am currently remodeling my basement in my old home and notice that i have old cloth 14/2 wiring running throughout the house. The odd part is that i have all 20 Amp breakers in my panel. I know this is incorrect as of todays code but would this have passed years ago. Is this safe?

Joba Fett Newbie   Join Date: Apr 2008 Posts: 25	60 year old house wiring No, it is NOT safe. It never was legal to have 20a protective devices on 14g wire. I highly recommend replacing these 20a brkrs with 15a brkrs...ASAP..
