I have an iPad and and Android smartphone. The charger for the phone is a 5V AC charger, and the iPad's is a 10V AC charger. They are USB wall chargers, so I can interchange the cable to fit either device. I wanted to know if it's safe to do so, or would I be overloading the phone, which came with the lower voltage charger? I've tried charging the iPad with the 5V as well as my 12V car charger, and it seems to work fine. As long as the charger outputs enough amps it should be OK to use with any electrical device right?
The chargers should state their output somewhere on the transformer. If one is 10V DC and the other is 5V DC then they are not interchangeable. What does the operator's manual say about charging?
The USB standard supports 5V. Haven't heard about USB supporting 10V.
