30 amp 125 volt receptacle
Can I wire up a 20 amp 120 volt breaker from an existing 30 amp 120 volt receptacle to operate a light fixture or ceiling fan. If I can, what is the wiring diagram

You can change that 30 amp breaker to a 20 and use #12 wire from your receptacle on out. Just for General purpose, I would mark that # 10 wire in your panel to denote that the circuit is 20 amps max. so that if someone comes in behind you and see's a #10 wire in your panel they won't install a 30.
