3-way switches, share neutral?

An important point of Stubbie's diagram is that, once the two 3-wire cables get to switch box 2, the separate neutrals serve only the respective lights, i.e. are not tied together at switch box 2.

Forget super sized fries. The Washington Redskins could promote healthy eating with First Lady Obama by choosing a (red skinned) turnip for a mascot.

3-way switches, share neutral?

I don't think using a 12/2 is legal. The hots and neutral must be contained in the same cable or raceway. They would not be if one cable was a 12/2.
