3 Way Switch help needed asap

Okay here is what I have. I have 14/2 running into my 3 way switch. Now in the same box I have 1 14/3 wire that runs up the stairs to another switch. Also on my box downstairs I have a 14/2 wire that runs directly to the light. I have no other wire running out of my upstairs box just the one 14/3 coming in. How do I hook this up. Here is what I did do. I connected the incoming power in this manner. All whites together (3)---Then (1)black wire on one of the terminals on the downstairs 3 way switch then the remaining two black wires are connected together on the other terminal then the red wire running solo on the other side of the switch. Now this bottom switch works but the upstairs switch does not work. It has power to the switch when the downstairs switch is turned on but when I turn the switch off then the power turns off to the switch upstairs. Must be something minor but I am stumped Thanks in advance.

The black from the 14/2 into the first box connects to the common screw on the switch. This screw is a different color than the other screws.
The black in the 3 wire cable from the second sitch connects to the black wire going to the light.
The white from the 2 14/2 cables connect together.

At the other switch, connect the black to the common screw.
The white and red wires connect to the other screws.

Whats causing the difficulty? Maybe we can clear this up if Jbfan hasn't already.

The diagram Joe posted is exactly what you described.

You guys ROCK! It works like a charm. The diagram was kinda messing me up with the sharp angles (wire) I am not used to seeing it that way. Everything works as it should . Thanks a million!
