3 Phase meter socket question

I have a question about 3 phase metering:

I have a low voltage 3 wire 3 phase heater which is being metered through a single phase meter socket (I had the single phase meter lying around, and needed to separate the heater from the rest of the system to accurately measure it's usage). My question is this: Will the kw hours of usage be accurate when read through the single phase meter as opposed to an actual 3 phase meter socket? Any help with this question would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks.

3 Phase meter socket question

well, since a single phase meter cannot read the third leg, it cannot accurately record power flow.

3 Phase meter socket question

nap is right.

Even if it's a grounded B system, a special meter is needed.

Most single phase meters are single stator. You need a 3 stator meter to properly measure 3 phase power consumption.

3 Phase meter socket question

the meter will not be accurate. though since the heater is a resisitive load the phases will be balanced. you could probably multiply by 1.33 and get close.
