2nd Main disconnect

My electrical panel does not have a main disconnect. The disconnect is located outside at the meter. There is spot to add a disconnect in the panel. Is there a problem adding a second disconnect in the panel. I was hoping to add a generator and I need the interior disconnect to install the interlock kit.

Thanks

There is no problem with a second main. Why not install the interlock on the exterior disco?

2nd Main disconnect

It a four bedroom home in the Keys. I figure it would be easier to install the disconnect and interlock on the main panel. I didn't know an interlock could be installed on the main disconnect outside. No pics, but it's a Square D QO panel, 40 space I believe.

Not knowing what type od disco is outside an interlock may not be possible. It just makes more sense to me as the gen must be outside anyway and the gen connections should be shorter and easier to install.
