Can anyone tell me if it is ok to move my 240 plug box to apox 1/2 inch above the floor?
As far as I can see, it's about the only way I'm going to be able to push my range flush to the wall due to the fact that the only "open space" on the back of the unit is at the bottom.
Or, can I recess the box into the wall? Thank you.
If it's a surface mounted box you can move it all the way TO the floor if you want....or bend the wire over and attach it to the floor, whatever you want.
JP is right. So long as the wire has enough slack in it, you can position the outlet most anywhere you like. Make SURE you don't try to "stretch" the cable or apply any undue stress on it, and re-torque the connections at the lugs inside after re-mounting the device. (Of course I KNOW you will de-energize the circuit before doing any of this, right?)
You can mount it to the floor, but I try to avoid this as I don't like to have the an outlet facing up.
Yes, there is a way to recess a range outlet in the wall and use a flush receptacle, but this is tricky to do as a retrofit.
