220v to 2 110v ?

I have a 220v line that is not used for anything (gas dryer) but could use some more power in the att. garage, can I split the unused 220v line into 2 regular 110v lines 1 for lights and 1 for plugs. I think this is pretty simple but wanted a second opinion. Thanks Adam

If the line has 4 conductors - 2 hots a neutral and a ground, yes.

I was going to take it right from the box so yes 2 hots,black-red, a neutral, white and a ground at the bar in the box I was just worried about the shared neutral. Adam

The connection at the point where you split the neutral is CRITICAL. Make SURE it's 100% tight or you can end up with 240volts to your lights/outlets

Make sure you drop the breaker size down to a 20A(2pole) if you run 12 gauge wire from the junction point.
