22/4 or 18/4 alarm control wire?

I'm installing a control panel in my garage with a run in conduit I recently buried. The distance between the main panel and garage controller is about 100'.

What size control wire do I need - 22/4 or 18/4?

#18 2 pair is always used for Alarm & Thermostat wiring.

Good, but this is for the key pad / control panel, which requires 4 wires. I've seen many use 22/4, but the guy at home depot (who said he did not work with alarm systems for a living) said I might use 18/4 instead.
