200A Upgrade - Meter Socket Location Question
I had a thread going about adding a subpanel to my current 100A panel. Unfortunately there is no room for a breaker large enough to feed the subpanel so I will be upgrading the whole panel instead.
My question is in regards to the meter location. I've always seen the meter on the left side of the panel but, the one I'm looking at has the meter on the bottom of the panel. This would be a good one because I can reuse all my current breakers but I want to make sure there isn't a problem with changing for a side to a bottom meter. This is going in a single residence.
If I can't post that link to the panel, let me know and I'll take it down.
Make sure that panel will meet the meter minimum height requirements of your utility without exceeding the maximum height for the breakers. That panel is also for underground services only.
Here's another thing to ask the POCO:
Around here they use what (I think) is called a "ringless" meter. So that panel you linked to, being a "ring type" meter socket, wouldn't work here. Just a thought.
