how do i convert a 2 wire extention cord plug to a 3 way?

you do not have a third ground wire for a three prong plug.

pokey's explanation is why you need to follow jbfan's advice.

You cannot convert a 2-prong extension cord into a 3-prong. You have to buy a 3-prong.
