2 sets of wires to bathroom light fixture
I am trying to replace both vanity lights in my bathroom. One has one set of wires from the box and the other has two. On the one with 2, I hooked a white from one set to the black of the other and then I hooked the remaining white to the white on the fixture and the remaining black to the black on the fixture. I hooked all 3 grounds together. The first time the lighting fixture with 2 sets of wires were bright and the light with one set were dim and barely on. So I switched which black and white wires were connected on the fixture with 2 sets and this time both sets of lights were dim. I made sure each time that the black and white wires that I connected were from opposite sets. I'm not sure what else to try. Any help would be appreciated!

How was it wired when you took the other ones down?

I was an idiot and didn't take note of that. I have wired other fixtures with no problem so didn't think much of it at the time. Trust me, I learned my lesson.

The 2 blks in the wall in the same box are power in and power out. Both of them get spliced to the fixture blacks. Same with the 2 whites splicing to the fixture whites.

You wired the fixtures incorrectly in a series instead of parallel.

Thanks Jim. That did the trick!
