Question

2 circuits controlled by 2 breakers

The circuit to my garage has one breaker identified for it and a circuit that contols that lights in the house has another breaker identified for it, The problem is that I can't kill the power to the garage or the power to the lights unless both breakers are off at the same time. HOw can I track down the problem?

This will get little tricky and can get ya if not carefull due you have crossed or shared circuits that can get ya so let me fill you in how to do the troubleshooting on this one.

Turn off BOTH breakers on that circuits and look at the switch boxes and if you have any junction box in attic or in basement useally are good indection some where it will have crossed circuits.

what you will do is at the first is the switch box either on house side or garage side and you will have to tell us if you have any three way switch on this circuit as well { that can change a bit }

Now what you will do is take the switch cover off first then remove the switch but DO NOT unhook the wires at the moment but make a note of ALL the connections including the netural conductors as well and how many cable comming in the switch box.

Once you give us the info then we can able help you to sort it out.

Oh by the way is the garage is attached or detached as well ??

Merci.
Marc
