2 Ceiling light wiring question?

I was under the impression the box in the OP was for a light, not a fan. The box you have this fan mounted to (the one shown in the OP), is not a fan rated box or is it attached to a fan rated brace. I would suggest you take the fan back down and properly support this large fan.

2 Ceiling light wiring question?

Post #22. So in the meantime I must hook a light back up. I don't want to re-install the wide light which might damage the ceiling I just fixed and painted so I decided I will put the old simple/single light from the other room which is done. This is just temporary until the fan comes in. While I am working on this, I also decided that because I have the time this weekend I will also remove the old box which could not support a ceiling fan, and install a new ceiling fan brace kit and box. So while replacing the boxes I had to disconnect the wires as they came in through different holes in the old box. Then re-route them into the new box.. ..

I should take some photos of the rentals attic showing where the old HO spliced directly into the home run with no j box, no wirenuts, and ran 22gauge wire about 15' to a ceiling fan. In 4 different locations. See what ya have to say about that one.

Yes last weekend I put in the new ceiling fan box and brace kit, but I had to temporarilly hook a light back up until the ceiling fan arrived. If I remember correctly it can support a maximum weight of 120lbs. This fan is nowhere even close to that, and it's only about 50" diameter.
