12v battery status indicator

Hi, I need help with trying to decide what 12v switch that i need for a 12v volt battery status indicator for a dual battery set up. I have 2 12v batterys and 1 12v battery gauge with a positive and a negitive terminal on the back of the gauge.
I know that i want a "momentary-on/off/momentary-on" switch so i can check both batterys seperetly. I just cant firgure out what type of switch i need and how to wire it correctly.
I know that its possible because i have seen this set up before, I just dont remember how it was wired.

Thank you very much for any help!

assuming the negative side is common to both batteries, you want a single pole, double throw, center off momentary contact switch.

ok thanks, from what i see online, the switch that u discribe has three terminals on the back, how do i wire that correctly with the gauge?

Connect the gauge negative to the batteries' common negative. Connect the gauge positive to the center switch terminal. Connect each battery's positive to one of the outer terminals on the switch. Make sure to install fuses near each battery! A 1A fuse is plenty.

When you flip the switch one direction, it connects the center terminal to the outer terminal on the opposite side from the direction you moved the switch handle.
