100 amp service panel


question.. from a newbie... so if i install a 100 amp service panel, does that mean i can only have 5 20 amp breakers in that box?...

100 amp service panel


No, not even close.
You can have ANY breakers you want in the panel. It's the calculated, and actual load, that will be on the panel that matters.

100 amp service panel


It would be common for the handle breaker ratings to add up to 2-300 amps in a 100 amp panel. Handle ratings as Speedy said, do not determine the load.
