Default 100 amp panel

I have a 100 amp 24 circuit panel which is full. It has 2 twin breakers already. I need to add 4 circuits for a/c. Can I add a sub-panel? I would remove 2 circuits from the main panel put in a 50 amp and run the sub-panel off of that. I don't have any heavy appliances mostly gas. The load should be fine.
