10/3 wire


If you insist on using #10 then you only need 10/2.
To use the 10/3 simply don't connect the red wire to anything. Leave curled up in the box with a wire nut on it at each end.

10/3 wire


Exactly Joe. It is painfully simple. Just cap off the red and don't use it.

IMO someone that has to ask a question like this should NOT be touching electrical work without on-site guidance. ESPECIALLY in a (likely) commercial audio/video environment.

10/3 wire


Most 15/20A receptacles are rated for a max wire size of #12. You will need to pigtail some smaller wire to the #10 before landing it on the receptacle.
