You guys helped me last year now I need your help again...

Morning All,
You helped me out last year with my AC service. Saved me from getting ripped off. Thanks!

Now I could use your advice again. All caps were replaced last year and last night I noticed a loud humming coming from the furnace. At first I thought it was the blower motor but that was not it. I had my wife switch on the blower and started/stopped fine. I quickly heard/felt the him from the transformer. The air conditioning wouldn't turn on when I set the temp down. I turned on the furnace everything kicked in and turned it back to AC and it then kicked on.

Sound like a bad transformer? or something else?

Could be a stuck contactor in the outdoor unit.

The points look bad on the contactor. The numbers are all washed out and I want to order the correct one. Can you guys help tell me where and which one to get?

They are rated in amperage draw for the contacts at 240 volts. Kinda looks like yours is a 25 amp model. I would order a 30 amp 24 volt contactor from Grainger. Slightly stronger contacts are better anyway. Double pole single throw type. Be careful as you need one with a joined set of contacts/buss bar type. Best to take the picture with you and drive down there.

update...just received my contactors today and installed them.....A/c units working great!

I put on 30 amp. I am surprised both of my units lasted this long. I couldn't see any points on the old contactors....

Again...you all saved me a ton of money

If we dont say it enough...Thank YOU!
