York Heat PumpQuote:
You should hear the compressor hum slightly for about 1.5 to 2 seconds then kick out on overload since it is trying to start but can't if the capacitor is bad. They both use capacitors but it may be a dual capacitor that does both fan and comp. This is very common. It will be silver metal and about 2 inches diameter and about 4-6 inches tall. If it is a dual run cap, it will have three terminals on the top marked Herm, C, and Fan. Get the rating off of it and get a new one. I just replaced a 45uf(MFD) / 5uf 370v one last night. They are less tha 30 bucks. You could also have two separate caps....they will be 2 terminal ones. You could also have a black plastic start one for the comp. Let me know what you find in there. |
