York 90, burn smell, how warm should inducer motor be?

Hi
I have a York 90. One day we smelt a rubber sort of burn smell pretty bad.
Then it seems to have stopped doing it. However, the furnace seems to still be working fine and I don't hear any weird sounds from motors. I can't tell what could be wrong yet. My wife thinks she smelt it again 2 days later.

I was wondering how hot should the inducer motor be while the furnace is running? Has any one ever touched their inducer motor or measured its temp while running and could share this info?

Chances are if it's coming from the furnace it's a motor or electronic component going bad.

You have a clean filter in it?

Draft motor can be hot when running but true way is get amp drawl on it. Did you feel blower motor when cycling off?

Yes, I replaced filter, vacuumed motors off. Cleaned trap, measured starting capacitor capacitances.
I measured 65 degrees C on the induction motor case, feels almost too hot to touch and keep hand on when running.
Feeling the blower motor it didn't feel too warm, not hot like the other motor. (Its hard to get to my blower motor). Squirel cage feels easy to turn.

So now I'm wondering how hot that induction motor should be when running?

As tator said, you have to get an amp draw on it.......temperature dose not tell the story......amp draw does.Motors are rated in amp draw not thermal tempature. Remember that most inducer motors turn at a higher rpm then your car engine dose at highway speeds..........its a hard working motor for sure.
