Yellow Jacket Equipment

I am going to have to purchase some HVAC equipment for my property, because it is getting real expensive having an HVAC come out so often. I remember when I was in school, my teacher swore by Yellow Jacket for gauges. I wanted to see what brands you guys use and recommend. I am looking to buy a vacuum pump, gauges, recovery machine.

Yellow jacket is good and I use some CPS gauges and products too. Buy the more expensive gauges with liquid filling in the gauges as it absorbs pulses and makes them last longer and easier to read. Quick connect ends are nice especially with R410 as it is under a much higher pressure and more dangerous. make sure you follow and find out about your local refrigerant handling laws as some states and all of Canada require a license and training to use it. the fines are HUGE if you get caught w/o one and ignorance of the law is NO excuse.

Nothing wrong with Yellow Jacket. They are like the chevy of the industry and things like seals and gaskets are available in most places.
Do yourself a favor and get the better gauges, you'll be a lot happier in the long run.

Thanks for the heads up. I have my universal license, but I just haven't worked on much HVAC since I left my old property. So, I now feel confident on pulling the trigger on the yellow jacket gauges, but what about the pumps?

pumps are good. I have a recovery machine and digital vacuum gauge by them and they are good. yj won't dumb down the quality as they want to maintain their good reputation.

Probably referring to Yellow Jacket analog gauges and the digital gauges available from other brands.

Yellow Jacket makes high quality digital gauges as well, but I never see them at Johnson and Johnstone.

What I meant was they are not the most expensive nor the cheapest and a lot more places sell them so when you need to replace gaskets or say a gauge glass then a lot of places have them.Just like a chevy ya know.
I was very happy with a set of Imperial gauges but thats just me.
I wouldn't buy like Robinair or whatever Dayton is.And again that just me.

Harbor Freight is always hit or miss with me and I have little confidence in buying a vacuum pump or bigger tools from them. I have purchase wrenches and a oscillating tool from them that were great and equal to their $100 brand named counterparts. Unfortunately, lately it has been a lot of un happy purchases.

Agree..Harbor Fright ain't your usual professional grade tools the hvac biz uses everyday.

I even buy China made beater sockets and other such tools for home use and job use. There easy to carry in a pocket and saves you an extra trip to the truck for the good stuff.

What was wrong with Robinair, I have a Robinair vacuum pump and manifold gauge. However I have had them for years. Donít know where Robinair is made now or the quality.

I buy what I call expendables at Harbor Freight or throw away tools. I have several sets of their air impact sockets and they seem to be holding up. How ever most is what it is, cheap tools.

hvac5646, How you doing buddy, we are neighbors
