Wow! Heat Pumps Rock!

It is 24 degrees outside and my heat pump is still able to keep our house warm.. It is holding steady at 65 degrees.. At 24 degrees it still costs 15% less to run then the 92% efficient furnace we have for backup heat.

It looks like the balance point for our house for 70 degrees inside is about 30 degrees outside. That also calculates to a house load of 7 BTU/sq ft/Deg F/Day or 162 watts/degree F. Our house is 1900 sq/ft located in Portland OR and built in 1972. Windows are upgraded, but most of the walls have R6 isolation in them. I put in a 2.5 ton heat pump. When I got quotes, the load calcs people gave me put me in 3 ton to 4 ton units. I'm glad I stuck with the 2.5...

thats awesome. getting a heat pump is the one thing I regret about my system.
About a year ago I purchased a lennox 92% furnace, coil, and condenser. I have a connection at lennox through work and got the system pretty much at cost. I had been told about heat pumps but figured I didn't need one.

The system has been great and dramatically lowered my heating and a/c bills, so I often wonder....how much better could it be. haha.

Did you mean to say "not getting a heatpump"? You just have AC right?
