I recently purchased a wood furnace add on with the intentions of putting on a small porch. Once unboxed realized that the porch was to small. With that said we moved to the basement. Our basement is all open with one 14" by 24" window. The gas furnace and water heater are vented through an old chimney. Now we can not find a way to pipe the flue for the stove. The walls are brick and our house is two stories. We would eventually like to duct into the exsisting duct work but its really cold here and just want to get the thing going for this winter...bills high. I would like to keep it cheap as possible. If anyone has any sugestions.
I am fairly certain you will need to put up a chimney, any place that has codes will require that you have a separate flue for the wood furnace. An interior chimney will work better then an exterior one due to cool chimney/draft issues and the forming of creosote.
