Question

Wiring My Thermostat...Please Help Solve Puzzle! :)

Hello all,

I'm in the process of replacing my old thermostat with an upgraded one.

I took off the old thermostat and realized I didn't mark how the wires were clamped on to it.

The old thermostat is a Honeywell Q539A1469.

Here is a diagram showing the old one and new thermostat

Is my wiring right??

I truly appreciate any help!!

Isabella

You're going to have to see what terminals the other ends of the wires are hooked up to, as your post doesn't give enough info.

Idaho.

The wires from your thermostat are connected to a control board in the blower compartment.
The ones you took pics of, aren't from your thermostat.

You've got guts, lady. . .

24vac is not too dangerous but watch out for sharp sheet metal edges.

There are only 6x5x4x3x2x1 ways, 720 of 'em, to hook up six wires to six terminals with only one wire on each terminal, so you need to get the colors right because only one way works properly.
Unfortunately, not every manuf. agrees on what color means what.
On top of that, sometimes wires are spliced inside the wall so the source color is not the same as the destination color.

On the bright side, it may not be possible to burn anything out no matter how you hook them up but I haven't checked all 720 combinations to see if this is true.

Don't do this. The odds against you are overwhelming.

You have a downflow furnace. Your blower is above the compartment you originally took pics of.
