Does the new stat have the same terminals?

White is usually heat, connected to the O terminal means that the reversing valve is energized when the call for heat is on at the heat pump.

Blue in this case is second stage heat, W2.

Orange would be emergency heat meaning if your heat pump breaks down you can utilize your electric heat strips in the furnace, or natural gas or whatever is back up heat.

G is fan, turns on the blower under any call, fan on , cool or heat.

R is power/24 volts.

Y is cooling mode.

Brown is being used as common.

Orange to Auxilary/Emergency heat.

Blue to W2.

You are not using B, Y2, L or A on the new stat.

Brown to C which is common, as is what was hooked up in the old stat.

The rest will be the same as the old stat as well.

O and B are reversing valve calls. The reversing valve is located in the heat pump and is "told" to come on/switch either during the call for cool or the call for heat.

You had on your old stat the W/heat wire hooked to the O so start there, meaning in call for heat the reversing valve switches to produce heat. The refrigerant switches it's direction for heat, why it's called a reversing valve.

Y2 would be second stage cooling and you do not have that to begin with.

I have no idea what L or A are as I don't have the paperwork in front of me as you do but if it wasn't there to begin with, don't think about it. Not every terminal needs a wire hooked to it.
