Default window a/c fan motor

I have a whirlpool window unit that is not working. It is 92 in the living room and we are cooking. The motor will run about 5 min and stop. Trying to spin the fan doen't work motor seems stuck. No power fan spins freely. Is this a bad motor or a run capacitor. The fan motor makes a little noise when starting, but stops in just a moment. Any help would be appreciated. Of course this all started on Sat. when the parts places were closed. LOL!! Move to FloridaHAHAHa!!!

Several hours later, fan will not start at all. Loud humming when turned on, no fan. still spins freely with no power. !2,000 Btu. With heat seven years old. Thanks Joe

Probably a bad motor.
Depending how old it is, and what size. Better off replacing it.

You don't want to put a lot of money into it. And then the compressor die.

Likely time to get a new unit.

If you cant afford one, you can try a different cap, but it could be internal to the motor.
