Why Thermo pan?

My experience with Thermo pan is it doesn't provide a very good air seal which is very important for indoor air quality and energy efficiency. What are the recommended ways for air sealing around the edges and seams?

Why Thermo pan?

Caulking the edges and foil tape on the seams.
