Question

Why my 3 Ton's new A/C is no better than my old 2 ton's one?

I have a 2 floor old house used to have a 2 ton's A/C for more than 20 years. Several years ago, a new furnace and new 3 Tonís A/C were installed .The heating was OK, but the central air had big problem, this 3 tonís A/C never could make enough cold air to cool down the house. In hot summer time, room temperature sometimes was more than 85 F degree even A/C working all day never stop. What was the reason caused the issue happened?

Run time. Charge. Air flow.
You need all new duct work to satisfy a bigger system.

Install could be a large part of it. Good vacuum would have to have been performed.

Return air.

Judging by the sq footage a three ton should be best. Ill put my money on ductwork/airflow.

Without this it'll never function properly. You can not charge properly either.

Line set. 2 ton might have quarter inch and five eights. Three ton would need three eights and three quarters.

You may have new equipment but not a complete system just yet. Almost.
Once done you'll notice a huge difference.
