Why insulate both suction and liquid lines

I have a 5 ton TRANE unit with two compressors. Why should insulate both high and low lines.

heat gain from the sun and air on both adds false loads.the condenser changes the compressed gas into a liquid 3-4 rows from the bottom of the condenser outside at a design range of temp/press.if the sun is hitting that pipe(hood of your car) that is extra heat added going into the air handler...coming out your freon has the house load in it and the sun hitting it on the way back out will add to that load.somebody might ace this,but sometimes contractors wire tie the suction and liquid together on the run then insulate it so you temper each with the other.black insulation is the only color with insulation...might want to cut open a lenght of roof drain pipe and pinch that around the insulated pipes ....white reflects.
