Whole House Humidifier Settings

the humidistat needs 2 B in the return air duct and B 4 where the moist air from the humidifier enters. if the air from the humidifier hits it then it will be inaccurate.

You can get humidistats that have an outdoor sensor that will automatically adjust the humidity for you as the outdoor temp varies.

Per the instructions I installed the humidistat on the cold air return duct.

I do have it mounted on the cold air return duct, but have a question about its placement there. As part of the humidifier installation I ran a flexible duct from the cold air return duct to the humidifier, which is mounted on the supply duct. The humidistat is mounted on the cold air return duct below this flexible duct. Should it be above, or does it not make a difference?

what is the brand name and model # as I would like to see the install info. Normally we mount the body of the unit on the cold air duct and the pipe feeding it to the hot air duct. the plastic body of most of those units is not rated for heat and will crack or warp soon. the humidistat is mounted above where the unit attaches to the duct or upstream in the cold duct or on the wall by your thermostat if you can run wire there or have 2 extra wires there.

Cool, Honeywell toughened up the plastic on those bodies and allows hot water to be fed to it also. IN the old days it would have to be mounted on the cold duct. post some pics of it and the humidistat
